And God Said

The first chapter of Genesis is a sequence of commands, and the world is what obeying them looks like. Here the deep waits without form, dark, with a soft glow brooding over the waters. Press play and the commands execute in order, one per movement of the song: light divides from darkness, a firmament arcs overhead, the sea gathers around a risen island, the greater and lesser lights ignite and the firmament becomes stars, life wheels above the water and glints within it, and a small figure of light stands up on the land. Then everything rests, and the stars at the zenith hold the North Star Cross, because all things were made by Him. Nothing formed ever jolts to the music: the drum sends waves of brightness, not motion, and what is created stays created. Drag nothing; the cosmos turns on its own, and your cursor only leans it.
